Senior Citizens Programs

Welcome to the Tri-Lakes senior citizens programs! A variety of programs are available that cater to the different needs of Tri-Lakes senior citizens. Browse through the programs listed at left to learn about the available programs.

The Tri-Lakes HAP Senior Alliance is an all-volunteer citizen's committee of the Tri-Lakes Health Advocacy Partnership (HAP). The Alliance was establilshed in June 2006 to oversee implementation of recommendations from the April 2006 Senior Forum. In September 2006, the Alliance gave top priority to the Tri-Lakes Senior Citizen Program; fund raising and exploration of venue opportunities began immediately and continues through the present.

The Alliance established formal and informal partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and town governments. These partnerships produced the community support, venues, resources, and volunteers necessary to make the Senior Citizen Program a reality. Sufficient donations and pledges have been obtained to fund the program into 2009.

The Alliance signed an agreement with Lewis-Palmer School District 38 under which space and other school resources are made available for senior services and activities in exchange for seniors volunteering for school intergenerational activities.

The HAP Senior Alliance Program is a portfolio of senior citizen services focusing on community health and well-being by leading, energizing and empowering individuals and organizations in the Tri-Lakes community. The goal is to collaborate and support the strengthening of health services and support available to our senior citizens.

The Alliance publishes a monthly newsletter, the Tri-Lakes Senior Beat, that contains an integrated summary of senior activities in the area. For more information on the Senior Beat and to obtain a copy, please visit the Senior Beat Newsletter in the menu at left.

The Alliance has established a scholarship fund intended to make ALL Alliance-endorsed services and activities available to all Tri-Lakes seniors who request them, no matter what their income level. No senior will be turned away for inability to pay a fee or make a donation. A voucher system has been set up to make it possible for seniors to request use of these funds in a very discrete and private manner.

In January of 2009, the Alliance published an up-date of the Tri-Lakes Silver Book, an information and assistance directory for Tri-Lakes seniors.

The Alliance maximizes the use of local businesses for program activities. It is in the spirit of community working together to involve local businesses whenever possible. This community collaboration is an important aspect of the Alliance program.
